“Imagine your surprise when you finally arrive after hours of driving to your 5 star luxury Hotel, only to find that there is no proper lounge area, no Bar (unless you try to enter the Casino complex, and thereby surrender you & your families passport details for analysis,) no concierge, and no Hotel restaurant whatsoever until 20:40 in the evening. Welcome to the alternate reality of this NH "Gran Hotel." The large room was very hot because the heating controls were effectively stuck on 27 degrees to begin with. When I complained it was suggested that I open the window onto the main road beneath. The TV completely failed late in the evening which wasn't a huge problem because none of its channels were broadcasting anything in English, nor did they correspond to the guide in the room. On the plus side the restaurant food was really good, when they finally decided to open up, and I managed to avoid having to park in the Hotel car park for €16 per night.”
